Wendy Gibbs is honored to be a part of the Sarkis Family Psychiatry team of providers and to contribute to the comprehensive care available to its patients. She was awarded her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and offers couples counseling, premarital counseling, and counseling for individuals of all orientations, from preteens to elders.

Wendy is also a trained EMDR therapist in the treatment of traumatization and has a passion to care for patients who are the survivors or witnesses of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. Wendy has additionally been trained in trauma response care as an advocate through the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence. Wendy regularly treats a range of mental health challenges including PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and dissociative disorders, as well as other life challenges such as bereavement, familial and relational distress. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.

Prior to pursuing her graduate work, Wendy was a high school advisor and certified Advanced Placement English teacher for four years and an editor and ghost writer for five years. She has collaborated on more than 27 published manuscripts. She received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Florida and has been a life-long resident of Alachua County.
